Bibliography on Medieval Lisbon
Bibliography on Medieval Lisbon is a database that aims to list all the bibliography produced on Medieval Lisbon (1147-1521), including works dedicated to the study of the city or related to it, including the most diverse works scattered throughout the proceedings of scientific conferences and academic journals, as well as published documentary collections. The database also provides the location of works in principal Portuguese libraries and, where available, a link to the respective digital version.
As part of the IEM's long-standing research work on medieval Lisbon, this database brings an important set of bibliographical references to a wider public in order to increase the quality of studies on the city of Lisbon in the medieval period. The involvement of students from undergraduate, master's and doctoral courses in History in its completion, under the guidance of the researchers responsible for the project, has also made it possible to consolidate a strategy for raising awareness and for training a new generation of researchers in the issues associated with medieval studies o and the medieval urban environment.
The continuity of the work already undertaken and the welcome reception of contributions from its users make this database a work tool that is constantly being updated, with a view to gradually increasing the number of records made available. To this end, the date of its last update will always be indicated on this page.

Criteria:
This database aims to gather and make available to the general community, in a systematic and rigorous way, the bibliography produced on Medieval Lisbon (1147-1521) and its inhabitants, including works dedicated to the study of the city or related to it, comprising the most diverse works scattered throughout the proceedings of scientific conferences and academic journals, as well as published documentary collections. The works listed in Portuguese university repositories, in the main bibliographic repositories, and in scientific and local periodicals were thus surveyed, taking as a starting point the list provided by the Center for Historical Studies. The records were entered into the database by undergraduate, master's and PhD History students from NOVA FCSH, following the protocol for filling in the database, under the guidance of the coordinator.
The database search form allows different searches to be made, always providing full retrieval of the information contained in each record in any of the possible options. The explanatory buttons provided seek to clarify the user's understanding of how each search field works, while also helping to optimize the searches made.
